Our Exchange Life in School of Tourism, Nanchang University

----Five students from Udayana University, Indonesia

My name is Oggye Charisma, and my friends call me Charisma. My Chinese name is 陈瑞莎. I am an exchange student majoring in tourism at Udayana University in Bali. I am glad to have the opportunity to study in Nanchang University. This is a good opportunity to study abroad. One place I was deeply impressed was Pavilion of Prince Teng, Pavilion of Prince Teng is a famous tourist attraction in Nanchang.

On September 5,2019, after going to Guangzhou, my friends and I went to Nanchang. The first impression of Nanchang was the high temperature of 41 degrees Celsius. This is the first time we've felt this heat, because Indonesia is not very hot. We arrived at the airport in the morning, then we took a taxi to Nanchang University. When we first arrived at the Institute of International Exchange, we were warmly welcomed by teacher Alice of Nanchang University.

A week later, we started our study in School of Tourism, Nanchang University. We met new friends who were kind enough to accept us in class. My favorite course in school was the hotel information management system experiment. This course is very difficult because we use the computer directly to operate the reservation system, which is very different from our course in Indonesia. In my opinion, the course we learned in Nanchang University is very useful, because in addition to learning tourism knowledge, we also indirectly learned Mandarin.

At the end of the term, we have the opportunity to attend the annual orientation. I performed a musical with my classmates, which was very memorable to me. My friends and teachers, they helped us practice acting and helping us understand the story. We'll never forget them. In my opinion, participating in NCU student exchange is very beneficial, because in addition to studying in a different atmosphere, we also made a lot of new friends, they are useful to my future.

My name is Ferina Densretta Manalu, and my Chinese name is 范丽娜. I was an exchange student at Nanchang University in China .

Nanchang is a beautiful city in China. I am grateful for the opportunity to be an exchange student in Nanchang University, especially in the Department of Tourism. We lived at the International Exchange College. It's very comfortable. Although the distance between the dormitory and the class is quite long, Nanchang University provides students with good facilities, such as bicycles or buses, for those who do not have their own means of transportation. Nanchang University is a first-class University.

When I took my first class at the Tourism College of Nanchang University, I was really surprised. My teachers and my Chinese classmates welcomed us warmly and let me enjoy the class. They helped me a lot when I didn't understand during class. They gave me information about the tourist destination in Nanchang. My impressive thing is sometimes we are together, they taught me Chinese language and Chinese culture. From this experience, I have made many friends from different countries. What a great opportunity it was!

My Indonesian friends and I performed traditional Indonesian dance at the welcome meeting of Tourism College of Nanchang University. It was a wonderful experience. And it was the first time I left my country and my own university. Some courses I did not take in college, but I entered Nanchang University, and meet different teachers and students , all these let me have more knowledge and broadened my horizon.

Hello my name is Ratna Diah Anisa Putri. My Chinese name is 罗琳娜.I am from Udayana university, Indonesia. This essay is talking about my wonderful study experience in school of tourism Nanchang University, China. This school make me know more about the new world and learn about something new in my life.

First I would like to talk about the people in China. The people in there are so nice and warmhearted. And the life is so different between my country and China. In China, you don’t need cash to buy things, in Indonesia we always use cash for shopping. This make us so confused in first day we just arrived to Nanchang University. I think it’s an useful way for our daily life.

All my classes were great, but we can’t understand what our teachers said. The way we understand what teacher taught us is that we used Google translation, we translated what he wrote in PPT and then we knew what the points of the class. And my Chinese friends helped me in Chinese study with enthusiasm. This is the reason that why I learn Chinese language is both painful and enjoyable.

Chinese and travelling courses have become my priorities. I was happy that my Chinese has improved rapidly since I arrived in China because of the surrounding environment. In addition to international friends, Chinese friends in Nanchang University who always helped me a lot. I appreciated them , and I love this school .

My name is Maria Puspita, my Chinese name is 玛利亚. I was an exchange student at Nanchang University in China from September 4,2019 to January 16,2020.

It’s been a few months since we departed from Nanchang University， but the memory still freshly carved in the mind. It’s truly a wonderful experience to stay and learn in China. The 4 months that we spent there were so valuable because in China we experienced its cultures and learned a lot of things. In school I met a lot of friendly Chinese students, and learn Chinese and other skills such as dancing and painting.

Another thing that I can’t forget is the beautiful scenery and landscape of Nanchang University. . Plus the smiles emitted from the people on the street amid their busy schedules. It is so beautiful that everyone can’t forget when seeing it. The food in this university is also very delicious. All of them are the reasons why I love Nanchang University so deeply.

We learn Chinese cultures and we also got opportunities to show up our own culture there and getting good response in there. Upon returning to our country, Indonesia, we recalled so many pleasant things. I was also determined to learn mandarin and hopefully got another chance to visit China and Nanchang University again!

First of all, let me introduce myself. My name is Evelyn Georgina. I'm from Udayana University from Bali, Indonesia. I also have a Chinese name 肖妍. From September 2019 to January 16,2020, my four friends and I had the opportunity to visit the School of Tourism, Nanchang University, China.

In early September, we arrived in Nanchang, I met a Chinese student studying in Nanchang University and some Indonesian representative students at the airport. I'm happy to start a new learning journey. But because I had just passed HSK 2, I had troubles about communicating. So it affected my learning process, and I couldn’t understand what the teacher was talking about in class. Fortunately, I got the help of my classmates who are Chinese students. They took the time to help us study, and they took care of us. In the Tourism School of Nanchang University, I sometimes take a language class with my friends. Learning language is fun. There are five American students studying at the Tourism College of Nanchang University, and I have some friends who are from Indonesia are studying in different majors. Therefore, we would get together with our Indonesian friends in our spare time.

At the end of the course, we performed for the International Event and the Welcome Party of Nanchang Tourism College. We performed Indonesian modern dance. I feel very lucky to be a member of the School of Tourism of Nanchang University in China for Exchange Study. I have gained valuable experience and met new friends who were friendly to us. Finally, I hope that I can speak fluent Chinese and have the opportunity to study in China again in the future.
